About SweetWilliam, S.L.

SweetWilliam, S.L. was created with a clear mission: to bring advanced automation technologies to users and integrators, with a particular focus on the mobile platform. We enable cost reductions and increased productivity through the power of real-time, two-way mobile access to industrial platforms. Furthermore, our commitment is to create friendly software applications and tools, which use would result in significant achievements for end users and automation integrators, with minimal effort.

Our team integrates highly talented software engineers coming from several industrial fields with a specialized background in process automation and control software development. We count both on Junior and Senior engineers and many external collaborators, which help us to focus on developing innovative automation software for a wide set of users.

Our first product is ScadaMobile. Taking Apple's iPhone platform as a basis, we have developed an application which is able to supervise remotely any process controlled or monitored by PLCs or RTUs in a very efficient way. Instead of relying on web server and web browser technologies, we implemented low level industrial communication protocols from scratch so we can offer a very responsible application, which allows users to connect to their remote systems in a very convenient way.

With ScadaMobile, users are able to monitor remote industrial devices or processes through their iPhones as quickly as it takes for them to review a Contacts favorite or to read the last incoming SMS. On-field tests revealed that users felt more comfortable when using our technology compared to a web based solution, simply because high responsiveness made them feel closer to the system they were monitoring.

Who we are

Joan is a successful entrepreneur with more than 20 years experience in development of automation systems and implementation of advanced software tools. He holds an Industrial Engineering degree issued by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya with a very high academic qualification. He got very passionate about designing and implementing compilers for high level programming languages and their assembly code optimizations. During his early labor years Joan worked as software engineer for the textile industry, developing software tools aimed at flexible fabric production in knitting machines. Among other projects, he designed and implemented a specialized scada software package for spinning mill facilities. In 1995 Joan got major stake at Cales de Llierca, S.A, a company producing inorganic chemicals, where he engineered chemical equipment and facilities from nothing to completion. Joan's work at Cales de Llierca involved full implementation of automation systems, plant commissioning, new product development, and bringing products to market. He sold his stake in the company in 2010 and the company continues to be a great success. More recently, Joan founded SweetWilliam S.L. where he engineered and developed the ScadaMobile app.

Hugo is an energetic, extremely talented Software Engineer with 2 years of project management experience and more than 5 years of software development experience with a preference on the iOS and OS X platforms. He holds a Computer Engineering degree at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, having reached the highest marks among his promotion, a MSc in Computing at BarcelonaTech having reached the 1st place of the promotion, and currently facing the last phase of his PhD. He has also been Mobile Development Instructor at the Universitat Politèctica de Catalunya, and leaded the Augia Labs initiative for the development of mobile applications for the iOS platform and later on the Augia Engineering venture to develop commercial applications. Hugo will work into designing the appropriate business model, and will play a significant role in the definition and development of the next round of innovative applications for SweetWilliam S.L.. He also will help to achieve marketing goals for the ScadaMobile app.

Joan is a pasionate, highly skilled and creative Software Developer, having developed several iOS applications while at Tager SCP and at Augia Labs. He earned a licentiate degree on Mathematics at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona and an Engineering degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Informatique et de Mathématiques Appliquées de Grenoble. Joan will become the main developer of new applications for SweetWilliam and will bring his passion, focus and skills to support SweetWilliam's next software development targets.
